Buenos Aires, November 24 (NA) – A fugitive who had been convicted of murdering his stepmother in the province of Misiones and had escaped days ago, was captured in Paraguay.
The individual is Yonatan Ariel Da Silva, who a week ago had taken advantage of a power outage to jump over the perimeter wall of the Unit VII Penal in Puerto Rico.
From that moment on, due to the dangerous nature of the prisoner, various investigative tasks began, one of which was related to the possible escape of the murderer to another country.
“The provincial force, through undercover tasks and intelligence investigation, managed to advance in the tracking of the fugitive, obtaining data that indicated he had crossed into Paraguayan territory,” they explained.
“With that information, the corresponding alert was issued and his complete identification file was referred to the authorities of the neighboring country,” they explained.
According to the police report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, based on these contributions, an international inter-institutional cooperation scheme was activated, which allowed for “the precise location of the subject and culminated in his apprehension in Yatytay Bonanza by the Paraguayan Military Police this Sunday”.
On behalf of the Misiones Police, an undercover agent maintained direct communication with the personnel involved in Paraguay, who confirmed the correct identification of the detainee and corroborated that he was the wanted fugitive.
“The image submitted by the Paraguayan authorities was incorporated into the file and the proceedings are now subject to superior directives to advance the corresponding international procedures, whether extradition or transfer in accordance with current regulations,” they highlighted.
